Are plastic drywall access panels strong enough?
I've seen metal and plastic access panels. For a utility room where it'll get occasional use, are plastic ones durable enough or should I spend extra on metal? Looking for real experiences.

Plastic ABS ones are plenty strong for normal use – I’ve had them in high-traffic areas for years with no cracking or sagging. Only go metal if you expect heavy abuse. I’ve installed several of these drywall access panels around the house. Light but rigid, door stays secure, easy to open/close. Way cheaper than metal and easier to cut into drywall. Never had a failure. Good middle-ground choice.
